Excursions provide co-curricular or alternative learning strategies for students, adding variety that is advantageous for both students and teachers.

Educational excursions or tours are short trips by students, under the supervision of the teachers. Students are taken to a place away from their usual routine environment.

The main aim of excursions is to impart practical knowledge. Imparting knowledge through a hands-on experience is one of the ways of making learning more interesting. Going on a field trip enhances their practical real-life knowledge, critical thinking skills and gives students a chance to think about a topic or theme from a different and open perspective. Many students don't get to experience the typical field trip locations by themselves. A college excursion trip gives the students the chance to experience theoretical knowledge with new perspectives. One of the importance of Educational excursions is the boost it gives to concepts learned in the classroom. A teacher can reinforce basic concepts by arranging an excursion to the topic related site. It also imparts discipline, cooperativeness, leadership skill, interactive corporate attitude etc.

Every year different departments viz. Botany, Zoology, Physics, Chemistry, Economics, Bengali etc. organise students’ excursions or educational trips guided by teachers as a co-curricular learning experience.
